Default Badge Tutorials, On Photoshop CS2

Badge Tutorials, On Photoshop CS2 By Tashi
This tutorial is the replica of the method i use to make badges around here
I hope I will make it as simple as possible!

Step 1:
Open Photoshop and start a new file
since badges hav to be small
the dimensions of 154X38 in most cases
Reduced: 95% of original size [ 538 x 310 ] - Click to view full image

but i use 164X38 for more clarity in the image

Step 2:
Select a slightly darker color than white... preferable a light shade of gray
n then right click on rectangle tool button in the tool bar on the left side
n select rounder rectangle tool bar

then click on the left upper side of the image white box of 164X38
n then drag till the other lower side of the image
Reduced: 99% of original size [ 516 x 138 ] - Click to view full image

u will get a gray dull box

Step 3:
in the lower right side of the screen u will find the layer box
duplicate the layer by right clicking on the layer n selecting duplicate layer option
now right click again on the new layer n select blending options,

selecting the now available blending options
choose drop shadow at 90 degrees
which give a shadow like effect to the badge
selecting satin n keeping the angle at 90
gives an added effect of 3d badge
Reduced: 85% of original size [ 599 x 447 ] - Click to view full image

adjusting the preferences to ur liking depends on u!
this is a basic sketch!

Step 4:
now the background is set, merge all visible layers
now the text option begins
make sure u change the colors
I begin wit separate brackets n use 'symbol' font
n use blending options again on the new font layer
n get this image

Step 5:
now add fonts between the brackets

use blending options again n use outer glow to make the fonts readable!
n this is wat u get finally

i have tried to make the tutorial as simple as possible
n this method has been discovered by me by trial n error
n i guarantee it will work!!
any reviews n comments r most welcome!!
